Katelyn Bouyssou, the Cranston West wrestling star, captured a gold medal in female judo at Youth Olympic Games in Singapore on Sunday. Bouyssou, the Cranston West junior who reached the semifinal round in 103-pound class at the R.I. Interscholastic League state wrestling tournament last winter, won her judo title with a pin of Anna Dimitrieva of Russia in title match of the 52kg division. The Youth Olympic games involve 3,600 athletes from around the world between the ages of 14-18 competing in 26 sports. Bouyssou will return to United States later this week where she will compete in the USA World Cup Judo tournament in Miami this week-end. The World Cup tourney will be Bouyssou's first opportunity to earn points toward qualification for the U.S. Judo team in the 2012 Olympics.
