Torey Jones, who concluded her high school career by leading La Salle to its third straight Division I Championship last winter, has now gotten her collegiate basketball career off to a great start at Caldwell College. The guard from Providence has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week for the second straight week. Jones, who is now playing for former North Smithfield star Linda Cimino, scored five of Caldwell's nine points in overtime, in helping the Cougars to a 72-70 overtime win over Bentley University at the UMass-Lowell Tournament last weekend. She finished with a career-high 21 points, sinking three 3-pointers, while also registering six rebounds, three steals and two assists. Jones had 12 points, including a pair of threes, in Caldwell's 54-48 loss to host UMass-Lowell on Saturday, She was also named CACC Rookie of the Week last week after collecting 15 points and 10 rebounds in the Cougars' 57-50 decision over No. 9 Stonehill on Nov. 16. |
