Portsmouth post comeback victory over Cranston West

EAST PROVIDENCE - Trailing 5-2 with two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth, Portsmouth tallied four runs with the two outs and posted a 6-5 victory over previously undefeated Cranston West in an Interscholastic League Division I Region 3 baseball playoff game Tuesday at Pierce Field.

The Portsmouth victory setup a winner-take-all game for the title in the double-elimination regional tournament and a berth in the Division I Final Four Wednesday at Pierce. The game time will be decided later Tuesday night.

Two-out, two-run singles by Tim Mello and Dave Wordell drove home the four Portsmouth runs in the sixth inning uprising.
