South Kingstown wins its 11th straight tennis title


PAWTUCKET - It came down to the third set of the final match, but South Kingstown eventually won its 11th consecutive R.I. Interscholastic League Division I boys state team tennis title as the Rebels posted a 4-3 victory over Hendricken in the title match of the state tourney at Slater Park on Monday.

With the score tied 3-3 the South Kingstown duo of Ben Sevey and Eric Troob gave the Rebels their title-clinching point when they completed a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory at second doubles.

Kyle Burke, Cliff Bueno deMesquita and Andrew Burnap registered South Kingstown's other points with victories in the top three singles matches respectively.
