South Kingstown volleyballers mourn death of former Rebel

Co-captain Sam Gross says that when a player joins the South Kingstown boys volleyball team, he joins a family. That family came together this week to mourn the death of one of its members.

Chad Mancuso, 20, a 2007 South Kingstown graduate, was killed in a single-car accident in Route 1 in Charlestown last Friday. During his career at SK he received honorable mention on the coaches' all-state team. He continued playing as a freshman at Lasell College in Newton, Mass., in 2008 and was a sophomore at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of his death.

The entire South Kingstown team, in uniform, attended visiting hours Monday, and those who played with him went to the funeral on Tuesday morning. Several volleyball alumni returned for the service and remained in town to watch the undefeated Rebels beat Bishop Hendricken, 3-0, Tuesday night in the SK gym.
