Area high school stars earn CCRI top seed in Region XXI Softball Championship

The Community College of Rhode Island Sports Information Department sends along this news on its women's softball team, which is coached by the program's all-time wins leader (106-79) Bev Wiley and includes former area high school stars Stephanie Morse (Warwick Vets), Marian Long (Bay View), Courtney St. Germain (Lincoln), Julie Paradis (Lincoln), Daina Lamb (Cranston East), Kaela-Rose Gentile (Ponaganset), Brittany Annunziata (Smithfield), Casey Doyle (Warwick Vets) and Shanon Duffy (Taunton, Mass.):

CCRI Lady Knights earn No. 1 Seed in Region XXI Softball Championship!

The CCRI Lady Knights softball team has earned the No. 1 seed in the Region XXI Championship scheduled for this weekend at Winslow Park. The Region XXI Softball Championship will be decided between the two top seeds in Region XXI. The CCRI Lady Knights who have a 12-2 record overall and 8-0 in Region XXI play will be the No. 1 seed and Massasoit Community College is 10-4 overall and 8-2 in Region XXI play will be the No. 2 seed. Holyoke Community College and Dean College will not participate in the Region XXI Championships.

The Region XXI Championship will be a best of three series beginning with two games on Saturday the 25th beginning at 12 noon. The second game will be at 2pm on Saturday. If there needs to be a third game it will be Sunday the 26th at 10am. All games will be played at Winslow Park on Taft Avenue in the Apponoaug section of Warwick.
