North Providence cheerleaders take second in national debut

Competing in its first national event, the North Providence competition cheerleading team placed second in the Large Varsity Division at the National Cheerleaders Association/National Dance Alliance U.S. Championships - Big Apple, held earlier this month at Manhattan Center Studios in New York City.

The Cougars - who posted a score of 8.62, finishing behind Clear Lake High School of Houston, Texas (9.14) - also received the High School Superior Sportsmanship award.
