Gridiron Club names award winners

Ten players and five coaches have been selected as recipients of their respective R.I. Interscholastic Football League divisional Lineman, Back and Coach of the Year awards by the Providence Gridiron Club.

All of the recipients will be honored at the Gridiron Club's annual spring awards dinner on April 8 at the Quonset "O" Club in North Kingstown.

The state Linemen of the Year, Back of the Year, Coach of the Year and Player of the Year will be selected from the divisional winners and also will be honored at the awards dinner.

The divisional Linemen of the Year recipients are Division I - Sam Chrupcala of Barrington; Division II-A - Mike Intieri of Westerly; Division II-B - Tim Hazard, South Kingstown; Division III - William Rivera, Central; Division IV - Shea Deignan of Hope.

The divisional Backs of the Year are: Division I - Dave D'Errico, North Kingstown; Division II-A - Bob Bentsen, Warwick Vets; Division II-B Doug Johnson, Toll Gate; Division III - Brandon Parillo, Johnston; Division IV - Zack Hornoff, Exeter-West Greenwich.

The divisional Coaches of the Year are: Division I - Geoff Marcone, La Salle; Division IA - Shane Lagor, West Warwick; Division II-B - Ric Reetz, Cumberland; Division III - Bob Murray, Tiverton; Division IV - Mike Gibbons, Hope.
