La Salle wins seventh gymnastic title, Fogarty individual champion


PROVIDENCE - The La Salle gymnastic team won its seventh consecutive Division I girls state title and Rams senior Meghan Fogarty captured the all-around individual title Sunday at the R.I. Interscholastic League's state championships at Rhode Island College.
Fogarty and teammate Meghan Soltys led the way as the Lady Rams captured the Division I team crown with 147.1 points compared to 144.95 for second place North Kingstown. Barrington was third with 136.9 and Coventry was fourth with 136.75.
South Kingstown won its third consecutive Division II title as the Rebels collected a total of 132.95 points. Mt. Hope was second with 127.55, Toll Gate was third with 129.75 and West Warwick was fourth with 120.25
Fogarty, the runner-up for individual honors last year, took this year individual title as she edged out Soltys, last year's champion, 37.80 to 37.65. Portsmouth's Bethany Reise was third and North Kingstown's Alysse Pazienza was fourth.

Wouldn't Toll Gate's 129.75 place them second ahead of Mt. Hope's 127.55?
