Another gold for Springer in 1,500
The boys 1,500 has provided some of the greatest excitement of the day here at the indoor state championships.
Andrew Springer prevailed once again, but not without a fierce challenge from East Greenwich senior Mark Feigen, who was out in front with three laps to go.
The two then began alternating leads before Springer made his decisive move at the bell lap, taking the lead on the back stretch and sprinting to victory in a meet-record time of 3:58.50. The time betters the previous meet-record of 4:00.0, set by former Westerly star and current Bulldogs athletic director Jamey Vetelino.
Feigen took second in 3:59.2, followed by Robert Allen, a sophomore from Cranston West, in 4:10.25.
