A second R.I. hockey player commits to Michigan

deblois0225.jpgDerek Deblois of Narragansett, a junior forward on the hockey team at the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn., has committed to the University of Michigan for the fall of 2010 or 2011, according to ushr.com

Deblois, who is 5'11'', 180 pounds, leads Hotchkiss in scoring with 10 goals, 21 assists and 31 points heading into Wednesday's game against Salisbury.

Deblois, who turned 18 last Thursday, reportedly chose Michigan, which plays in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, over Boston University.

Deblois is the second Rhode Islander to choose Michigan, which is No. 3 in the country in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll. His Hotchkiss teammate, Mac Bennett of Warwick, committed to Michigan last year.
