Mount girls earn share of ice title

WARWICK - Mount St. Charles earned a share of the Interscholastic League girls Division I regular season hockey title as the Mounties posted a 2-1 victory over Bay View in the final game of the regular season for both teams Saturday night at Thayer Arena.

The victory gave Mount a final 14-1-3 regular season record and pulled the Mounties into a first-place tie with Bay View, which finished the regular season at 15-2-1.

Courtney Shea, on assists from her sisters Caitie and Alli, provided the Mount's margin of victory when she broke a 1-1 deadlock at 4:53 of the third period.

Bay View had taken a 1-0 lead on Samantha Gouin's goal early in the second period, but Mount's Katie Loiselle deadlocked the issue with nine seconds to play in the second period.

Mount St. Charles goalie Kayla DiLorenzo, who finished with 27 saves, made a couple of big stops in the final few minutes of the game to keep the Mounties in front.
