La Salle rides 28-point second quarter surge to Super Bowl title

CRANSTON -- Quarterback Joe Charest threw two second-quarter touchdown passes and also ran for a TD in the quarter, leading La Salle to a 31-6 victory over Barrington in the R.I. Interscholastic Division I Super Bowl today at Cranston Stadium.
With La Salle trailing 6-0, Charest fired a 43-yard touchdown pass to Luke Francis on the first play of the second quarter and also closed out the quarter with a 32-yard TD toss to Francis on the final play of the session.
Between the two touchdown passes Charest, ran 30 yards for a touchdown. La Salle's Kendall Perry also had a 43-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, helping the Rams build a 28-6 halftime lead.
The victory completed a perfect 12-0 season for the Rams, including 10-0 against Rhode Island Division I competition.
