Top high school teams will battle it out at 28th annual MetLife Soccer Classic

MetLife Sponsors 28th Annual "Soccer Classic" RIIL Tournament

Warwick, RI - October 9, 2008 - For the 28th consecutive year, the Rhode Island Interscholastic League and MetLife are teaming up to present the high school soccer state championship tournament. On November 8-9, the 2008 MetLife Soccer Classic will decide state titles in all seven divisions of girls' and boys' high school competition.
Semi-final games of the MetLife Soccer Classic are scheduled for November 3-5 at various locations. Championship finals will be played at Rhode Island College and at Pierce Stadium, East Providence.

The finals line-up is:
• Girls - Saturday, Nov. 8, Pierce Stadium: Division I - 1 p.m.; Division II - 3 p.m.,
Division III - 5 p.m.; Division IV - 7 p.m.
• Boys - Sunday, Nov. 9 at RIC: Division I - 2 p.m.; Division II - 4 p.m.; Division III - 6 p.m.

MetLife's support of Interscholastic League soccer remains the longest-running corporate sponsorship in Rhode Island high school sports. The sponsorship encompasses all seven RIIL divisions and covers game expenses for semi-final and final rounds; individual awards, team plaques and mementos for finalists; and Most Valuable Player trophies.

The company will also host a reception for coaches and captains of the 14 teams that reach the finals of the seven divisions.
