Rhode Island harriers fare well at Manhattan Invitational

East Greenwich's Mark Feigen won the Manhattan Invitational's Varisty "F'' boys' race Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park, New York City. Feigen clocked 12 minutes, 49 seconds over 2.5 miles. The La Salle boys, meanwhile, took the team title in the Varsity "E'' division, with Connor Mercurio as the top placer: 14th in 13:11. Hendricken was entered in the top-billed Eastern States Championships, and finished 23rd in team scoring. The Hawks' top runner was Jake Sienko, who crossed the line 20th overall in 12:55.

In the girls' varsity races, Barrington was the top Rhode Island team finisher, placing sixth in the Varsity "C'' division. The Eagles' Emily Siskind was the highest local finisher: second in a time of 15:19. In the girls' Freshman "D'' race, La Salle's Emily Papazian was the winner in 9:43 over 1.5 miles.
