Mercurio victory, brother's third-place paces La Salle boys to runner-up finish at Hartford XC Festival

Senior Connor Mercurio clocked a winning time of 16:20.7 and his younger brother Matthew took third (16:47.2) in leading the La Salle boys cross country team to second place at the Hartford Cross Country Festival Invitational, today at Riverfront in Hartford, Conn.

Seniors Dylan Leazes (13th in 17:25.8) and Ian Rambo (20th in 17:43.3) and sophomore Sean Phayre (21st in 17:45.8) also contributed to the Rams' scoring.

Meanwhile, senior Jean Christensen placed ninth with a time of 20:09.2 in pacing the La Salle girls to fourth place. Juniors Victoria Beardwood (20th in 21:25.6) and Colleen McKenna (21st in 21:31.3), senior Caroline Capuano (23rd in 21:58.4) and Danielle Renzi (26th in 22:13.5) also scored for the Rams.
