South Kingstown junior Kyle Burke won his second straight boys tennis state title with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory over Classical's Vidith Huot at the Mike Kenny Courts in Slater Park. Also, the Barrington doubles team of Sam Jerome and Ben Lucock completed an undefeated season as they posted a straight-sets victory over the South Kingstown duo of Aaron Carey and Andrew Shumate in the title match of the state doubles tourney.
The Toll Gate boys tennis team successfully defended its state title this afternoon, sweeping the singles matches en route to a 4-3 win over Cumberland in the Division II Championships, played at the Mike Kenny Tennis Courts at Slater Park.
Meanwhile on the adjacent courts, Portsmouth claimed its first state crown in three decades, defeating Narragansett, 6-1, in the Division III Championship.

Classical senior Mickey Jusme yesterday broke her own state record in the triple jump at the Class A Championships at Conley Stadium. Jusme got off a winning distance of 38 feet, 9.75 inches (11.83 meters. -0.85w) topping her leap of 38-9 (11.81) at the Central Division meet two weeks ago.

South Kingstown won its 10th straight Division I boys tennis championship with a 5-2 victory over Barrington while Exeter/West Greenwich captured the Division IV crown with a 4-3 win over Woonsocket.
