Friday night the avengers moved to 4-1 on the indoor season easily outpacing TollGate HS. The Avengers have one more meet left to the regular season on Wednesday evening at C
Rhode Island High School Basketball Officials will be participating in the national “Blow The Whistle on Cancer” campaign during the week of January 27th.
In cooperation with the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society, boy’s and girl’s officials are contributing a portion of their game fees as part of the Coaches vs Cancer crusade.
As a display of their commitment to the campaign,
The La Salle girls' indoor 4x400 relay team of Lily Kessinger, Alyssa Limperis, Christina Marcaccio and Lauren Cardarelli placed first among 37 high schools with a winning time of 4:03:19 at last Sunday's McIntyre Elite Relays in Boston.
Limperis, Marcaccio and Cardarelli then teamed up with Stefanie Raiola to place third in the 4x200 with a time of 1:47:54.

The choices were limited to teams with winning league records as of Thursday afternoon. A huge turnout for Tiverton fans put the Tigers in the number-one position in the poll. Relying on the strength of its relay teams, the La Salle girls indoor track team successfully defended its title at the Dartmouth Invitational, held this weekend at Hanover, N.H.

A Rhode Island record was broken, and one equaled, in track meets over the weekend. At the Rhody Invitational, held at URI, Classical senior Victoria Flowers bettered the girls’ indoor shot put mark that had stood for 12 years. Flowers put the ball a winning distance of 45 feet, one-half inch (13.73 meters), bettering the mark of 45

This past Saturday the Avengers competed at the Dartmouth relays. The meet attracts the best talent from the east coast in Track and Field. East had several athletes place in the top twenty and two that placed in the top 3.

The game of basketball is a wonderful team game. Unlike any other team game basketball allows each of the 5 players on the court to be interchangeable, meaning the “position” each person plays is basically the same as the other 4 positions on the court. Everyone on the team must be able to run, jump, defend, dribble and shoot to varying degree
