North Kingstown, Tiverton to meet in Division I field hockey final

Cassie-Raye Stuart scored the game-tying goal, then assisted Stacey Scott on the game-winner, as as North Kingstown posted a 2-1 overtime victory over East Greenwich in semifinal action of the R.I. Interscholastic League Division I Field Hockey Championship earlier tonight at Cranston Stadium.

Saturday's field hockey finals pushed back one hour

Because of SAT's, the times for the R.I. Interscholastic League Field Hockey Championships have been pushed back one hour on Saturday.

The Division II final, originally slated for 3 p.m. at Bryant University, will now be played at 4.

The Division I final, originally slated for 5 p.m. also at Bryant, will start at 6.

Moses Brown, Wheeler to meet in Division II Field Hockey Final

There will be some familiar faces battling for the R.I. Interscholastic League Division II Field Hockey Championship this weekend, as Moses Brown and Wheeler each posted semifinal victories tonight at Cranston Stadium.

The second-leading scorer in Division II this season, senior Sierra Olney added two more goals to her collection, in helping Wheeler to a 3-0 victory over Rocky Hill in the first matchup.

La Salle, Barrington and East Greenwich tops at Boys XC Class Championships

Connor Mercurio moved up from 10th to 2nd (16:26) and Pat Erban jumped from 43rd to 3rd (16:30), in helping La Salle capture the Boys Cross Country Class A Championship today at Ponaganset High School.

For the second year in a row, La Salle grabbed the top two individual spots, as Jeanne Mack (18:18.3) and Jean Christensen (18:39) again finished first and second, respectively, and with teammate Nicole Cocozza (19:00) following in third, the Rams also secured the team title at today's Class A Cross Country Championship held at Ponaganset High School. Girls Tennis Championships postponed

The R.I. Interscholastic League Girls Tennis Championships scheduled for today have been postponed because of rain.

The Division I and II State Championships will now be played at noon tomorrow at Slater Park, and the Division III and IV State Championships will be played Monday at 3 p.m., also at Slater.

The matchups are as follows:
Division I - Mount St. Charles vs. Bay View
Division II - Classical vs. winner of C

Olney, Patricio tabbed Varsity Zone Players of the Game

For the 27th consecutive year, MetLife is assisting the Rhode Island Interscholastic League with the high school soccer state championship tournament.

The 2007 MetLife Soccer Classic will be held from Nov. 9-11, with state titles decided in seven divisions - three on the boys' side and four on the girls' side.

Cox Sports Television's Fall Varsity Zone schedule underway

Cox Sports Television has kicked off its second season of Fall Varsity Zone, which airs on select Sundays at 7 p.m. The 2007 fall season, which kicked off on Sept. 23 with coverage of the high school football matchup between Narragansett and Johnston, will include coverage of Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division I Championships in boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer and football. There will also be a special edition of Varsity Zone on Thanksgi
